The team at North West Veterinary Specialists held their first specialist breeder group Open Day on Friday 28th April.
Welcoming 20 local Labrador and Golden Retriever breeders to the Hospital, the day centred around four presentations. Dr Rebecca Littler spoke on the subject of Hypo Thyroidism, Dr Lorenzo Golini on Epilepsy in the breed and Dr Turlough O’Neill on hip and elbow dysplasia, all subjects specific to the two breeds and requested by the attendees.
Lunch and a tour of the facilities at the hospital followed with the time given to one to one discussions between the breeders and the surgeons.
Carol Benson, Chair of the North West Golden Retriever Club commented, “The event today was excellent and everyone commented on how much they had enjoyed it. The talks were all very informative and had the right balance of presentation and interaction.”
Bernard Catterall, also from the NWGRC added, “The members of our Club who attended were very impressed with the facilities and the very high-level information given to us in a down to earth format by the specialist surgeons. We felt that the speakers gave us an honest and frank opinion of some of the problems our breed can encounter and the solutions which we can employ and convey to others if these conditions occur.”
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all who attended and took the time to make the day so enjoyable and productive.
