ECVN Residency in Neurology and Neurosurgery at Northwest Veterinary Specialists, UK
(2019 – 2022)
Northwest Veterinary Specialists (NWVS) is offering two ECVN residency positions. The ECVN programme will start from February 2019 and should last 3 years after which the successful candidate would be able to sit the Diploma Examination of the European College of Veterinary Neurology.
The resident must be eligible as member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
We are looking for a candidate with strong background knowledge in veterinary medicine and surgery and ready to work in a busy multidisciplinary hospital.
Applicants must have successfully completed a 12-month neurology internship (preferable) and a 12-month rotating internship or provide evidence of equivalent experience over at least two years in small animal practice.
NWVS is a rapidly expanding multidisciplinary small animal referral hospital located in North West England with a caseload of approximately 1200 new neurology cases per year. The hospital is equipped with modern in-house facilities including radiography, ultrasonography, fluoroscopy, electrodiagnostic unit, MRI scanner, CT, dedicated neurosurgical theatre with neurosurgical microscope, high dependency unit and easy access to radiotherapy and neuropathology.
The successful applicant will be supervised by three EBVS® European Specialists in Veterinary Neurology and RCVS Specialists in Veterinary Neurology and will work in a dynamic team of nurses and interns.
Specialities at NWVS cover anaesthesia and pain management; neurology and neurosurgery; cardiology; soft tissue surgery, oncology; internal medicine; diagnostic imaging; and, orthopaedics. NWVS also works closely with other referral centres in the Pets at Home Vet Group to facilitate clinical research and access to shared expertise.
