Small Animal Anaesthetist

Northwest Veterinary Specialists and Eye Vet, Cheshire, UK are seeking a veterinary anaesthetist (ECVAA or ACVAA diplomate or board eligible) to join our anaesthesia team. The team currently consists of 5 senior anaesthetists (3 ECVAA diplomates and 2 residency trained anaesthetists), one anaesthesia intern and 2 nurses (1 VTS anaesthesia nurse and 1 undertaking the VDS). Sadly, one of our senior anaesthetists will be leaving in the next few months and we are looking to fill this position as soon as possible.

Northwest Veterinary Specialists and Eye Vet are an easy commute from historic Chester, Liverpool or Manchester. We’re also on the outskirts of picturesque Delamere Forest, with the largest area of woodland in the country, and within easy reach of Snowdonia and the Peak District, so have the best of both city living and rural life on our doorstep.

Our specialities cover anaesthesia and pain management, neurology and neurosurgery, soft tissue surgery, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, oncology, internal medicine, and diagnostic imaging (including on site MRI and CT); and we work closely with other referral centres in our group to facilitate clinical research and access to shared expertise.

The successful candidate will be working at Northwest Veterinary Specialists, a busy multi-disciplinary referral hospital, as well as at Eye Vet, our dedicated ophthalmology clinic, located 0.4 miles from each other (less than a 5 minutes drive). You will also take part in the on-call rota.

Skills and Experience:

The ideal candidate would be an ECVAA or ACVAA diplomate or board eligible experienced anaesthetist.

Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK, be a member the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (or eligible to register with the RCVS), and have a good knowledge of written and spoken English.
