Anaesthesia & Analgesia

In anaesthesia and critical care, we combine supervision by European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia diplomates with full monitoring facilities, including arterial blood pressure, ECG, capnography, gas analysis, pulse oximetry and core temperature. We can also deliver positive pressure ventilation to all sizes of pet both under anaesthesia and for longer term ventilation and have extensive on site laboratory facilities. Each anaesthetic is tailored to the individual pet’s circumstances and each patient at Northwest receives an assessment of their pain before, during and after surgery. Anaesthetists are also available for emergency cases so if you pet requires the best in anaesthesia and intensive care, you can rely on us. The anaesthetists also work closely with our other disciplines and are available to advise on pain management for cases and we can provide a similar resource for our local practitioners.

Our anaesthetists are available to offer telephone advice on anaesthetic management for any case for our referring vets.

Each member of the clinical services team at Northwest undergoes CPR training so that we are fully prepared, whatever the emergency. The specialist anaesthesia team are also involved in training local practitioners and veterinary nurses in resuscitation and anaesthesia and analgesia.
