Diagnostic Imaging

A large proportion of animals seen at the hospital by our specialist-led disciplines will require some form of diagnostic imaging. These studies are carried out in a timely fashion, delivered with high quality care and assessed in detail. This service is delivered by a committed and conscientious diagnostic imaging team. The team draws it experience from a background of veterinary nurses, NHS-trained radiographers and is headed up by a veterinary radiologist with over 17 years experience in the field of radiology. In addition to our on-site team we have the added support and advice on image interpretation provided by some of Europe’s experts within Mars Veterinary Health, and beyond.

Each patient is unique and can offer unique challenges.

Over the last few years, the diagnostic imaging department has benefitted from substantial investment with the purchase and installation of a Toshiba Aquilion Lightning 16-row helical CT scanner, a Siemens CIOS connect fluoroscopy unit, and an Esaote Veterinary Mylab Eight eXP ultrasound machine.

These are operated along with our brand-new state-of-the-art Philips BlueSeal MR 5300 MRI scanner.

The combination of skill in acquiring good quality images together with the experience of interpretation in the clinical context means we can make swift decisions for the most appropriate care pathway for each individual patient. CT-assisted and ultrasound-guided biopsy techniques are regularly performed for enhanced diagnostic yield. Where applicable, this accommodates a minimally-invasive, low-morbidity and cost-effective route to securing expeditious diagnoses.

Our collective goal, across the hospital specialties, is to inform and initiate a tailored treatment plan for the animals entrusted to our care, and their owners. The team shares an on-call rota to facilitate the provision of advanced imaging to patients referred as emergencies, when the clinical need warrants it, as determined by the specialist lead clinician.

  Northwest veterinary sevices Runcorn was from start to finish was a very pleasant experience, from the welcoming receptionist to my meeting with the vet, everything was explained thoroughly and dates set for future operations. 1st class operation and i have no worries because i know my dog is in very good hands.

  I attended a 2hr first aid for dogs course here this week. Absolutely wonderful. Such a warm welcome, the course was very professional and the staff were lovely.  We had a tour of the site which was extremely impressive, certainly an awful lot of money spent on 'state of the art' facilities including MRI, Oncology, ultrasound, multiple operating theatres and treatment rooms. Too much to list. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. They even supplied drinks and a buffet! I would feel very comfortable having my pet treated here.

  Absolutely amazing animal.hospital such friendly staff. The hospital Is immaculate and your little or big one's are under the best Care. Just complete a first aid course which was far far superior to one I did a few years ago with a different local vets. The knowledge is fabulous and informative. Well done every single staff member we met to night from reception, the nurses, customer relations Elliott, the lady offering drinks and more all.made you feel.very welcome.
